The Difference with a Not-For-Profit Centre
Billabong has an important place in our local community, providing a community-based, not-for-profit alternative to the widely available profit-based model of care. As a not-for-profit, Billabong betters the community by reinvesting returns into the facilities and care provided for our children.
We regularly review our fees to ensure they are affordable for parents without compromising the quality of care and facilities for children.
The centre is governed by a Parent Committee formed by volunteer parents and is run by our Centre Manager
Community Engagement
Billabong participates in community events such as Keep Australia Clean Day, Biggest Morning Tea for Cancer Council, Harmony Day, National Reconciliation week, Plastic free July etc. Besides this, the children actively participate in helping local communities such as Manna Inc, Connect Inc, Nappy Collective, recycling batteries, Essentials for women, Constable Care Safety Foundation etc. We hope to create in our children a sense of empathy towards the less fortunate.

We know Billabong for about 9 years. Our daughter absolutely loved her time there and learnt a lot. Now our 2.5 years old son is attending Billabong. It is the most caring, wonderful and warm childcare we could ask for. Our 2.5 year old son loves going and we feel so lucky that he is able to spend time with educators who have such a kind and calm nature.
I highly recommend Billabong Community Early Learning Centre.Both my children have attended the centre and both thoroughly enjoyed their time there. The educators are so kind and caring, and they do wonderful work with the children - taking them out of excursions and having special incursions for things such as science week and book week as well as the education they instil in the children whilst in their care. My son, now in Kindy, has been saying he wishes he could go back as ‘the food is heaps better and he loves his naps’ and is always asking when he can go back to visit. Billabong is a wonderful part of the East Victoria Park community, and management has made it the wonderful place that children love attending.
I have been an educator in the Billabong CELC for over 8 years, and I am a mother of two young children who attend the daycare where I work. It has been my first workplace since I was a placement student, and I have become a senior staff member in the centre. I enjoy working at Billabong because the manager, Shani, provides ongoing support to upskill my knowledge in early childhood settings. She offers regular PDs to keep up with the current early childhood education and care practices. Also, educators have a passion and heart for children to nurture their learning journey. I recently returned from my second maternity leave, and I am so glad I can work in the place I am passionate about. Also, as a parent, I am reassured and confident that my children have grown up where they feel loved, cared for, and recognised for their values whilst interacting with each educator. The spacious outdoor environment has inviting settings for the children to explore their emerging physical skills, and the activities are offered at age-appropriate levels. I am delighted where I work, and my children have grown up with the educators and the environment, which has positively impacted their growth and development. Seeing their personal growth and development has been a source of great joy and pride for me.
My daughter has been attending Billabong since she was just shy of 6 months of age, now 18 months. From the very first moments she has been looked after with the utmost care. I was quite nervous about leaving her at such a young age but that feeling very quickly disappeared once I saw how much she enjoyed her time there. She has beautiful connections with the educators & I’m always so thoroughly impressed with all she is learning & doing each day she attends. Her time at Billabong has made her flourish into such a well socialised, confident little girl. My youngest daughter will be starting in a few months which I have zero hesitation about.Thank you Billabong for all that you do!
I have been a part of the Billabong Community Early Learning Centre for the past seven years. From the moment I joined the Centre, I knew I had found a special place that would not only nurture the children but also support and uplift its staff.When I returned from my maternity leave, bringing my little one to the Centre, I had no doubts or concerns. The care and attention provided by the staff in the baby room / now in toddlers were/ are exceptional. Throughout this journey, my manager, Shani, has been an incredible pillar of support. From my early days at the center to becoming a first-time mom, she has always been there, offering guidance, understanding, and encouragement. Her dedication and passion for early childhood education are truly inspiring. I must also commend the entire staff at the Centre. They genuinely care about the well-being and development of the children under their care. It's evident that they have a deep passion for early childhood education, and their commitment shines through in the way they interact with the children and their families.I highly recommend the Billabong Early Learning Centre to any parent seeking a nurturing and enriching environment for their child. 👍
My Son has recently started attending the Billabong Community Early Learning Centre and he loves every moment of it, he is always excited with excursions to the library and to the shopping centre’s. The activities are always changing with some great creative learning opportunities, and the outdoor spaces are wonderful for all ages. The educators are very welcoming and provide a supportive, friendly, safe, educational and caring environment. Additionally there is always ample parking available, because of the convenient location next to East Victoria Park shopping centre. I am very pleased with Billabong Community Early Learning Centre, and I would recommend them to anyone.
My son has been going to billabong for a few months now. Staff are absolutely AMAZING !! The continuity of staff is very good, the quality of the care is outstanding. I love that my son gets to go on excursions often, the play equipment is great!!. The meals are not only delicious and nutritious but they are also freshly cooked. The routines are very well structured and consistent. The educators are very experienced and love the center and the kids. I don’t think I can fault the center, the educators or the management in any way. Being a mother who doesn’t hold back while being the voice of my child, I am very glad to have found such a rare gem to care for my son.

Billabong is a warm and friendly centre, and all the interactions we saw between educators and the children were done with kindness and respect.
